History of the university

The geographical location of the wilaya of Skikda gives it a strategic position. Indeed, it is halfway between the wilayas of Constantine, Annaba, Jijel and Guelma. Every year, it records the best rankings of success in the baccalaureate.

Strengthening the University Card in Algeria The University August 20, 1955 is an institution of higher education. It was created on September 18, 2001 by Executive Decree No. 272-01 and named University 20 August 1955 Skikda during the visit of the Ex President of the Republic on 20 August 2005.

It welcomes the student population of the region. It continues to develop on all levels: Infrastructure, Training, Cooperation and rResearch, It has gone through the following phases:

Pedagogic and Administrative structures

The university includes the rectorate , 6 faculties, one institute and common services.

The rectorate: contains four (4) vice-rectorates, it is organised as follows:

The General Secretariat :the general secretariat to which the office of general order, the office of internal security and common services are affiliated, includes the following sub-directorates:

 ISTA institute = 50 Students.

 

Common Services:

This center is responsible for:
- The operation and management of network infrastructures.
- Monitoring and implementation of tele-education and distance education projects.
- Provide technical support for the design and production of online courses.
- Training and supervision of stakeholders in distance learning.

It has the following sections:

    - Systems Section.

    - Network Section.

    - Section of distance Learning and Moodle Platform.

- Provide technical support for foreign language learning, upgrading and refresher courses organized by faculties and institutes,
- Allow the student to improve his level in the following foreign languages: French, English, German, Italian

It has the following sections:

    - Programming section.

    - Maintenance and maintenance section.

    - Printing section.

    - Audiovisual Section.

Experiences Partnership University / Business:

 The University of Skikda has traditions of partnership with several sectors, such as:
   -Sonatrach and The units of the petrochemical platform: LNG1, Terminal, CP1K, RTE. As part of its openness to its socio-economic environment, a sector, with national recruitment, petrochemical industries and process engineering has been launched for three years and it will develop in pole of excellence;
    - Samsung technology, a training course for students within the Samsung company followed the professional integration.Actions supported by a University / Samsung convention;
    - EPS (Skikda Port Company), reception of trainees.
    - CTC (Technical Control of Constructions) for the project of rehabilitation of old building Skikda. The civil engineering department participates in technical expertise and the socio-economic survey is entrusted to the social sciences laboratory
   - ANA (National Agency of Highways), recruitment of graduates in civil engineering after induction training in China.

    - SIJICO (Agroalimentary Company), interns welcome.

 The university also has agreements with institutions in the field of applied research, continuing education such as Skikda Agency and the ElHadjar Steel Complex.

 

Strategic Objectives:

  - Make the employability of graduates the first priority: Prepare for changing trades and a globalized economy. Installation of an interface cell with the socio-economic sector;
   - Ensure pedagogical renovation: make pedagogy a promising industry. Installation of an Assurance / Quality unit at each faculty level.
   - Target scientific production according to the priorities of the economy and the expectations of society. Twelve approved National Research Projects (NRPs) involving the socio-economic sector of the region.
   - Integrate scientific research and innovation into the interuniversity partnership and involve the socio-economic sector.
    - Engage in an efficient partnership, in an open economy and a globalized space.
    - Involve the skills of the socio-economic sector in the preparation of training standards and mentoring students in professional situation.
